Bus life: the first few weeks

As we settled in to our new lifestyle at the campground, we did our best to create some semblance of normal day-to-day living, rather than being stuck in a metal tent. We set up a shelving unit as a pantry, and I did my best to make nice meals on a single-burner camp cooker. The gas was not connected so no stovetop or oven. Can't forget no running water.

We set up a wardrobe unit in the master bedroom so we weren't trying to live out of suitcases, which we had no real space to open up and look through except for dragging them up onto the bed.

Very important for down time - a 24volt tv with built in dvd player. No tv aerial, not bothered by not having access to 24/7 tv, but definitely nice to stretch out on the bed with a movie occasionally (and we can cast youtube etc from a laptop).

Our shower and toilet rooms took shape with plumbing installed, and the shower unit installed.

The shower is essentially in the kitchen.... so yeah... glass door needed covering. We turned it into a feature wall with this cool blue pattern:

The day before we left the campground, we got running water! Cold AND hot! It was sooo nice to have a hot shower in the bus that night.

Finally, on March 17th, 3.5 weeks after moving in to the bus, we left the safety of the campground and moved out of town. We were lucky to have been offered space in a paddock on a friend's farm, about 20 minutes north of Dunedin. This was perfect as we still had a lot of building materials and needed to make noise working on the bus without disturbing others.
